These days he is concentrating on large works in watercolor and gouache. Taking his inspiration from plants and the world of the garden, these warm and effective images reflect the joy of planting seeds, seeing them grow and multiply.

Carter is an avid gardener and the front garden at his home on busy Washington Street in Marblehead has one of the most extensive varieties of plants of any of Marblehead's  charming small gardens.
