Wood Memorial Library and Museum has an opening for a
Library Assistant and Family Program Manager

The person in this position develops and carries out library projects, policies, and procedures in conjunction with Wood Memorial Library's Library Committee. The other major responsibility is serving as staff liaison in promoting special family programs in conjunction with Wood Memorial Library's Education Committee.

This person would recommend books to be added to the collection, as well as books to be weeded from the collection, and would develop programs to increase book circulation from the Library. This person would purchase new books regularly and would develop programs to increase patrons' borrowing books.

The family programs to be promoted by this person include Family Fun Days, Family Concerts, Young Artists Series, and other special educational programs. This person would have considerable support from members of Wood's Education Committee in managing these events.

A degree in Library Science is not required, but a knowledge and love of books, experience in dealing with the public, working for a non-profit, and a B. A. or M.A. in a related field are all requirements to a greater or lesser degree.

The Library is open two days a week, Monday and Thursday from 10 AM to 8 PM, as well as additional times for special family events outlined above. The job involves 4 hours each day the Library is open, and flex time options are available. Compensation is negotiable commensurate with experience and skill levels.
