Celebrate a storybook holiday this year and experience one of the largest gingerbread house festivals in New England. Stroll past fairy tale houses and fantasy trains all covered with bright, colorful candy.   Gaze upon replicas of historical buildings alongside edible villages, all created by regional artisans and bakers, students and community members, expert and beginner alike.  The Wood, located on historic Old Main Street, provides the perfect holiday venue for showcasing the sugary artistic creations among sparkling lights and colorful decor.

Musical performances, author signing and story time events will also be scattered throughout the festival providing patrons with an uplifting and creative break from the hustle and bustle of the holiday season.  Finally, don’t forget to stop by “Ye Olde Gingerbread Shoppe” for the opportunity to take home a bit of the magic with many holiday themed gifts and treats.

Children’s Author Lori Sanchez will read children’s books and be on hand to sign copies of her children’s book Queenie Rules the Farm, which will be available for purchase in the gift shop.

“I began writing children’s books after visiting China to work with children of migrant workers at a summer camp. My stories are about an unconventional friendship between a mischievous chicken named Queenie and a sweet girl named Jia Li which develops on a Chinese farm. I have written three books, all in English with translations in Mandarin Chinese. Illustrations are done by my niece Codi, a friend Donna Lonati and me.  I have traveled to pre-schools, schools, senior centers and camps with my pet chicken Queenie to read my stories, do a craft and sing a silly song.
My books are available at the Book Club and More in South Windsor, Long Stem Florist in East Granby and amazon.com. Profits from the books are donated to Christina’s House in Springfield, MA and Bless China International Children’s program, Kunming, China.”-Lori Sanchez
