Fall 2010
WOOD MEMORIAL LIBRARY
has begun plans for a major exhibit showcasing

THE WATSON SISTERS OF EAST WINDSOR HILL
-
WOMEN ARTISTS in a 19th Century world.

Painting by Amelia M. Watson

The paintings and photographs of
Amelia M. Watson (1854-1934) and Edith S. Watson (1862-1946)
will be displayed in a comprehensive exhibit of their work in their ancestral hometown of Old East Windsor Hill, South Windsor, CT.
The planned opening is the fall of 2010. Works will be borrowed from wherever outstanding examples are found.

Anyone owning, or knowing of the whereabouts, of either sister's art work - paintings, photographs, sketchbooks, illustrations, ephemeral materials, letters, documents, exhibit catalogues, et al. are encouraged to notify us at our website.

To offer a piece on loan, please send the following information: medium, condition, size, framed or unframed, owners name, address, telephone, number and email address, along with digital photo(s) of the item. To make it easier, fill out the following Entry Form.

If you are interested in selling the offered item from the exhibit, please request our Gallery Statement, or you may call Wood Memorial Library at 860-289-1783: ask for John Wadhams, Director.

Whether you are interested in lending a work for the exhibit or not, we would appreciate any information you may have about the sisters, or their family. It is the aim of the library to collect as much information on the sisters as possible: letters, newspaper articles, school and art show catalogues, etc. We are interested in digital images of any art and copies of any documentary materials available about them. Such information will be added to our archival collection and, when appropriate, will be added to an appendix to the exhibition catalogue.
